Kiko Loureiro--Universo Inverso

As a well-known Brazilian guitarist, and with international recognition, Kiko Loureiro's musical roots go beyond power chords and distortion. Brazilian music, Latin music, jazz and classical music have always had their influence on his composition and playing. Universo Inverso is his second instrumental record, a fusion release paying tribute to Loureiro's Brazilian musical roots. Recorded in only three days, Universo Inverso has six of Kiko's compositions and four from pianist Yaniel Matos and blends Brazilian and Latin rhythms and jazz with a subtle dose of rock that defies easy catagorization. Thus, the listeners hear samba, baiao, jazz, buleria (Spanish rhythms heard in flamenco) and even Brazilian waltz, always with a rock guitar interpretation. Universo Inverso goes to show the Kiko Loureiro's entire musical universe that makes him one of the most complete musicians of our time. George Bellas--Venomous Fingers

Legendary American neo-classical guitarist George Bellas follows up his two solo Shrapnel Records albums "Mind Over Matter" and "Turn Of The Millennium" by releasing a fantastic solo album entitled Venomous Fingers. Bellas is well known for his work with Mogg/Way (UFO), Ring of Fire and many more, and the title of this 2003 release recalls Bellas' early practice sessions, whish were long and hard to the point that his fingers began bleeding. He would put band-aids on them and continue practicing. His many influences include: J.S.Bach, L.V.Beethoven, Franz Liszt, Paganini, Debussey, Walter Piston, Ted Greene, Robin Trower, Montrose, Van Halen, Michael Schenker, Dream Theater, Magellan, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine and Jason Becker. Blazing shred, wicked arpeggios and heavy neo-classicism mark the latest release from one of the fastest players around. Brett Garsed--Rock Fusion

Brett Garsed downplaying his legato technique is like Carl Lewis downplaying his speed by telling you all he does is move his legs and moves as quickly as he can.
Brett Garsed Rock Fusion is absolutely phenomenal at introducing, showcasing and teaching the basics of legato technique. Legato is a style of attack using fingertaps, hammering and pull-offs with very minimal picking enabling sophisticated phrasing, speed, fluidity and clarity unmatched with flatpicking by sheer physics alone. If reading this conjures images of Van Halen you aren't even close. No disrespect to Van Halen, but his technical ability is a tip of the Garsed legato technique iceberg. If you have never been exposed specifically to this "school" of guitar perhaps popularized by Allan Holdsworth (A major influence on Eddie Van Halen by his own admission), this video will blow you away.
One of the strengths of this video is that Garsed comes across as genuinely encouraging, unpretentious and easy to understand. The value of this video is that even if you don't play pure legato, there is principles here to be applied everywhere in your technical arsenal whether you play rock, blues, smooth jazz or metal.

Vinnie Moore--Time Odyssey

Okay so i'm finally posting something new after a long break. Trust me it wasn't a break, i was getting my ass whipped because of work :-(
Apologies for getting off without an announcement. I'm back now and you'll get plently of new links everyday so keep rockin'
Starting with a request that i found in one of the comments, i hope everyone likes it. Also i'm making a separate request section where you can post requests as comments. So here goes...

Time Odyssey was Vinnie Moore's 1988 follow up to "Mind's Eye" and was released on the Squawk label (a division of PolyGram Records), which also released the amazing "Maximum Security" by Tony MacAlpine. This release ontinues the neo-classical metal backdrop of his first album, while keeping shred guitar fans happy with cuts like "Prelude/Into The Future" and "Race With Destiny". Moore pays homage to the Beatles and George Harrison on Time Odyssey with a wang bar enhanced version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". The piece "April Sky" is classically influenced as Moore takes notes and inspiration from Bach's "Air On A G String" and "Piano Concerto No. 5 (Second Movement). Keyboard player Jorden Rudes also contributes in the songwriting department on "Prelude", "Into The Future" and "Message In A Dream". Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Shred/Neo-Classical Metal), total running time, 60:33
Tracklist:

*Morning Star
*Prelude/Into The Future
