Kiko Loureiro--Universo Inverso

As a well-known Brazilian guitarist, and with international recognition, Kiko Loureiro's musical roots go beyond power chords and distortion. Brazilian music, Latin music, jazz and classical music have always had their influence on his composition and playing. Universo Inverso is his second instrumental record, a fusion release paying tribute to Loureiro's Brazilian musical roots. Recorded in only three days, Universo Inverso has six of Kiko's compositions and four from pianist Yaniel Matos and blends Brazilian and Latin rhythms and jazz with a subtle dose of rock that defies easy catagorization. Thus, the listeners hear samba, baiao, jazz, buleria (Spanish rhythms heard in flamenco) and even Brazilian waltz, always with a rock guitar interpretation. Universo Inverso goes to show the Kiko Loureiro's entire musical universe that makes him one of the most complete musicians of our time. George Bellas--Venomous Fingers

Legendary American neo-classical guitarist George Bellas follows up his two solo Shrapnel Records albums "Mind Over Matter" and "Turn Of The Millennium" by releasing a fantastic solo album entitled Venomous Fingers. Bellas is well known for his work with Mogg/Way (UFO), Ring of Fire and many more, and the title of this 2003 release recalls Bellas' early practice sessions, whish were long and hard to the point that his fingers began bleeding. He would put band-aids on them and continue practicing. His many influences include: J.S.Bach, L.V.Beethoven, Franz Liszt, Paganini, Debussey, Walter Piston, Ted Greene, Robin Trower, Montrose, Van Halen, Michael Schenker, Dream Theater, Magellan, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine and Jason Becker. Blazing shred, wicked arpeggios and heavy neo-classicism mark the latest release from one of the fastest players around. Brett Garsed--Rock Fusion

Brett Garsed downplaying his legato technique is like Carl Lewis downplaying his speed by telling you all he does is move his legs and moves as quickly as he can.
Brett Garsed Rock Fusion is absolutely phenomenal at introducing, showcasing and teaching the basics of legato technique. Legato is a style of attack using fingertaps, hammering and pull-offs with very minimal picking enabling sophisticated phrasing, speed, fluidity and clarity unmatched with flatpicking by sheer physics alone. If reading this conjures images of Van Halen you aren't even close. No disrespect to Van Halen, but his technical ability is a tip of the Garsed legato technique iceberg. If you have never been exposed specifically to this "school" of guitar perhaps popularized by Allan Holdsworth (A major influence on Eddie Van Halen by his own admission), this video will blow you away.
One of the strengths of this video is that Garsed comes across as genuinely encouraging, unpretentious and easy to understand. The value of this video is that even if you don't play pure legato, there is principles here to be applied everywhere in your technical arsenal whether you play rock, blues, smooth jazz or metal.

Okay so i'm finally posting something new after a long break. Trust me it wasn't a break, i was getting my ass whipped because of work :-(
Apologies for getting off without an announcement. I'm back now and you'll get plently of new links everyday so keep rockin'
Starting with a request that i found in one of the comments, i hope everyone likes it. Also i'm making a separate request section where you can post requests as comments. So here goes...

Time Odyssey was Vinnie Moore's 1988 follow up to "Mind's Eye" and was released on the Squawk label (a division of PolyGram Records), which also released the amazing "Maximum Security" by Tony MacAlpine. This release ontinues the neo-classical metal backdrop of his first album, while keeping shred guitar fans happy with cuts like "Prelude/Into The Future" and "Race With Destiny". Moore pays homage to the Beatles and George Harrison on Time Odyssey with a wang bar enhanced version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". The piece "April Sky" is classically influenced as Moore takes notes and inspiration from Bach's "Air On A G String" and "Piano Concerto No. 5 (Second Movement). Keyboard player Jorden Rudes also contributes in the songwriting department on "Prelude", "Into The Future" and "Message In A Dream". Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Shred/Neo-Classical Metal), total running time, 60:33

Anand Mahangoe--Mysterious Ways (A Man's Mind)

Holland-born, Hungary-based hard rock guitarist Anand Mahangoe's CD A Man's Mind (reissued for 2005) introduces this Eastern European six-stringer to a world wide audience. Featuring ten blazing instrumental tracks and stellar production from Mahangoe and Miklos Kuronya, fans of hot-wired guitar solos, pounding drums, muscular bass and thematic keyboards will be jumping all over this release. Mahangoe gets the ball rolling on the very first track, "Return From The Red Bananaworld", with intense sweep picking and explosive legato phrasing, and never lets up -- almost. "Side By Side" shows that the talented Mahangoe can also play expressive and appealing when the situation, and tempo, demand it. A Man's Mind is a great introduction to the music of one of the many more-than-proficient European axemen. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Hard Rock/Shred)

Green Day--International Superhits Tabs

Green Day takes the title International Superhits literally, offering a no-surprises compilation of all the songs that made a big dent on commercial radio. From the pop-punk heroes' breakthrough album Dookie ("Longview," "Welcome to Paradise") through Insomniac ("Brain Stew"), Nimrod ("Good Riddance [Time of Your Life]"), and Warning ("Minority"), if a record produced a hit, that song is on this album. There are only two new tracks on the Superhits (both recorded a couple of months before the album's release)--the spazzed out rock & roll singalong "Maria" and the puppy-dog love of "Poprocks & Coke." Because International Superhits doesn't pull from Green Day's early EPs and Lookout albums or offer any live variations, though, this album is really only one for the serious-minded collectors who don't want to skip past a single Green Day release.

Contains full tablature/transcriptions for the following songs:

*Basket Case
*Brain Stew
*Geek Stink Breath
*Good Riddance (The Time of Your Life)
*Hitchin' A Ride
*J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)

Torben Enevoldsen--Guitarisma

Guitarisma is the strong debut of Danish guitar hero Torben Enevoldsen. Containing 13 hard rock and fusion tracks, the CD features 11 instrumental numbers and two vocal tracks sung by Kenny Lubcke (Narita), making for a varied and interesting release. This Lion Music re-release also features a bonus track, "Zantac". Enevoldsen's superb technique sets the stage for songs displaying the guitarist's sense of melody and the atmospheric quality and depth of his compositions. Just listen to the beautiful change from heavy riffage to sensitive touches in songs such as "Time Ran Out". Enevoldsen is accompanied by bassist Carsten Neumann (Pangea, Narita), bassist Christian Rajkai (Narita, Prime Time) and Torben Lysholm (Pangea), who did the drums and who also participated in the production of Guitarisma -- an instrumental hard rock essential. Vinnie Moore--Out Of Nowhere

Written and produced by Vinnie Moore (with production assistance from engineer Paul Hammingson), Out Of Nowhere is the guitarist's fourth CD and continues the hard rock sound found on "Meltdown" This time Moore included two acoustic songs as well as riff-a-plenty tunage such as "Time Traveler", "770 Days" and "Losing Faith". Recorded at Kajem Studios just outside Philadelphia (with additional work done at Moore's new home studio), the album, once again all instrumental, travels the outer limits of song writing. From the crushing opening riff of "With The Flow", to the smooth, almost angelic styling of "Echoes", to the all-out jam of "Thunderball" and his twang thang, "VinMan's Brew", the album plays like an old friend. Propelled by a powerful compositional framework that is second to none, Out Of Nowhere is lifted by Moore's unique understanding of harmonic expression. A lively and emotive balance to his technical mastery, songs like "From Now On", "She's Only Sleeping", and "Winter Sun" showcase the player's sensitivity and skill. The results are inviting. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Hard Rock/Shred), total running time, 45:20

Black Sabbath--Paranoid Tabs

Though most of Black Sabbath's classic material from this album ("War Pigs," "Iron Man," "Fairies Wear Boots," and the title track) can also be found on the collection We Sold Our Soul for Rock & Roll, Paranoid is essential for the completist. One of the best albums from one of the bands to define heavy metal, this album is chock-full of the best stuff from Sabbath's Osbourne years. (Where else will you be able to hear "Rat Salad?") The music isn't exactly complex, but it doesn't need to be; its importance lies in its evocative power, with which any teenager will be able to identify.

1. War Pigs/Luke's Wall
2. Paranoid
3. Planet Caravan
4. Iron Man
5. Electric Funeral

Darren Housholder--Symphonic Aggression

The last of three recordings guitar-instrumentalist Darren Housholder released on Shrapnel Records, Symphonic Aggression is the musician's most accomplished record. Improved production and a more developed rhythmic concept elevate this 1995 release above Housholder's earlier efforts. The clean guitar funk and jazz explorations falter, but the Berklee Music graduate's fluid rock soloing -- the heart of all three Housholder releases -- are his best ever. Guitar enthusiasts will enjoy the much improved Strat guitar tones and bassist Ricky Wolking's killer performances. As the title suggests, Symphonic Aggression is Housholder and his band's (Wolking and drummer Ray Lozier) most classically influenced disc. Sounding occasionally like classical metal's most heroic guitarist, Yngwie Malmsteen, Housholder performs blistering solos over Bach- and Chopin-inspired key modulations. The classical dramatics hold up through the first half of the record before the disc shifts into the more conventional rock feel used in Housholder's first two releases. Even when Symphonic Aggression loses its neo-classical momentum, Lozier and Wolking give the arrangements energy and depth. The rhythm section's full tones and interesting polyrhythms provide a welcome dynamic to the standard shredder material. Housholder's solo work typifies a genre of music made by (and for) the most technically inclined rock musicians. Fans of this complicated, sometimes difficult music will enjoy Symphonic Aggression; clearly the guitarist's most impressive record to date.

Leo Kottke--6 & 12 String Guitar

For decades, Leo Kottke would inspire generations of fingerpicking acoustic guitarists (and help pave the way for New Age and contemporary instrumental music), but this 1969 album is the one that started it all. Kottke's brilliant debut was released, fittingly, on John Fahey's Takoma label. Showing the influence of Fahey himself (and Takoma labelmate Robbie Basho), Kottke performs impossibly difficult solo compositions that meld blues, bluegrass, and jazz techniques. Whether surefooted and quick ("The Driving of the Year Nail," "Jack Fig," "The Fisherman") or slow and reflective ("Ojo," "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"), Kottke's instrumental work is simply awe-inspiring. He'd forge an entire career out of this music and eventually incorporate singing onto his albums, but this gem is Kottke at his very best. Essential.

Paul Gilbert--Get Out of My Yard (DVDRip)

Hot off his latest tour with G3 featuring Joe Satriani and John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert presents his amazing, brand new DVD containing over two hours of personal guitar instruction and live performances from the world's most insane shred guitarist.

If you like Paul Gilbert and play guitar your already looking to buy this, and you should get it.Just be warned that you will rewind again and again on particular parts if your not familiar with the scale/mode/arpeggio he is using, as some parts go by very fast. The good news is he tells you exactly what hes doing at all times-every chord, almost every single note-so even if you didnt know something, by the end of the segment you have gained some additional knowledge beyond "I can play a new riff!"

After the main portion of the DVD there are a few lesons on technique, some live footage, and a song sang under the credits, so you will get a great amount of entertainment value out of this as well.

All in all you will probably have a few new ideas of how to play your guitar, even if you have to go over sections repeatedly. Its worth it.Its funny. :-)

Prodigy--The Fat Of The Land Tabs

An album even the technophobic couldn't ignore, The Fat of the Land made Prodigy one of the first U.K. rave acts to infiltrate pop culture. Hard-core hip-hop-derived breakbeats, layers of unabashed (but creative) sampling, and meaningless shouted lyrics struck a chord beyond the electronic-music community. The inclusion of "Firestarter" and "Breathe" (both previously released hit singles) certainly aided the disc's widespread success, but it was the ferocity (and controversy) of "Smack My Bitch Up" that caught the world's attention. Guest Shahin Bada's Indian vocalizations convey the sense that dance music has come a long way from "Pump Up the Volume"! "Diesel Power," featuring Kool Keith, and "Funky Shit" set a wicked groove; the cover of L7's "Fuel My Fire" recalls the energy of the Sex Pistols. In fact, the dark aggression of The Fat of the Land bears closer resemblance to both rap and punk than the hedonism of techno. Leader Liam Howett simply gives up 10 solid songs with bombastic production values, transforming dance music into the art of noise.
Contains full transcriptions/tablature of the following songs:

Allan Holdsworth--Reaching For The Uncommon Chord

This excellent book is not only a transcription about some Allan Holdsworth's material between 1976-1986, but a good reference of the master's thinking. It contains a current biography, a selected discography (just the records which allan is proud of),a lot of photographs, a detailed story about each song, and a humble "Holdsworthian View" of the revolutionary guitarist, who really transform the aproach to the instrument: His style not only consist in a fluid liquid legato interpretation of fusion scales but a total creative harmony landscape that has became a new language for others.
The transcriptions are:
1. The Abingdon Chasp (from "One Of A Kind"),
2. Fred ("Believe It"),
3. Home ("Metal Fatigue"),
4. Letters Of Marque ("I.O.U."),
5. Shallow Sea ("I.O.U."),
6. Temporary Fault ("I.O.U."),
7. Three Sheets To The Wind ("Road Games"),
8. Tokyo Dream ("Road Games"),
9. The Unmerry-Go-Round ("Metal Fatigue"),
10. White Line ("I.O.U.").
This book is a "must read" for all the fan musicians of Allan Holdsworth. Is an outstanding document that helps to figure out the thinking and musical understanding of a real revolutionary genious!...

Rusty Cooley--Extreme Pentatonics

Shred guitar monster Rusty Cooley is back yet again with another superior instructional CD-Rom brought to you by Chops from Hell. "Extreme Pentatonics" is Cooley's sophomore release and its phenomenal. I never dreamed of so many ways to play the same damn pentatonic scale! Rusty will take you out of your standard box pattern rut and give you the tools to make your soloing that much more impressive. I found myself like other guitarists out there thinking that I learned all I could from using this basic of scales. Well, man was I wrong! This instructional ROM has well over 100 different examples and licks. Yes, I did say 100 plus. So now your combinations of patterns and movements are endless (100 to the power of something or other). You do the math. ;-)

George Benson--Absolute Benson

George Benson is well embarked on the third phase of his career, and Absolute Benson, though unfortunately titled (it sounds like a compilation, but is actually an album of new recordings) is another in a series of consistently excellent CDs that characterize it. Benson excited traditional jazz fans in the 1960s and early '70s with his albums of inventive guitar playing on Columbia, A&M, and CTI, records that made him seem the logical successor to Wes Montgomery. Then, in 1976, he moved to Warner Bros. Records and recorded Breezin', featuring the single "This Masquerade," on which he sang, and suddenly he became a million-selling pop vocalist who happened to play guitar, seemingly the logical successor to Nat "King" Cole. That, of course, made him anathema to traditional jazz critics. After a decade, however, his pop success began to diminish, and by the end of the decade he was making another move -- to contemporary jazz. By the 1990s, he was restricting his vocal excursions to a few tracks on each disc, and his albums began to top the contemporary jazz album charts consistently. His move from Warner Bros. to GRP, a label devoted to contemporary jazz, confirmed the transition. Absolute Benson is his third GRP release, and on it he turns in a varied set, accompanied by Joe Sample on keyboards; Carlos Hernandez or Christian McBride on bass; Vidal Davis, Steve Gadd, or Cindy Blackman on drums; and Luis Conte or Luisito Quintero on percussion. Four of the nine tracks feature vocals of one sort or another. On the leadoff track, "The Ghetto," Benson (accompanied by five background vocalists) sings a few words, and on "Come Back Baby," he takes a real lead vocal, while on "El Barrio" and "Medicine Man" he only scats along with his guitar playing in his familiar style. But none of these performances is a conventional pop vocal performance. Similarly, Benson flirts with various pop music styles, covering Donny Hathaway's "The Ghetto," Stevie Wonder's "Lately," and Ray Charles' "Come Back Baby" for elements of R&B and blues, while "El Barrio" has a Latin feel. But he employs these styles as flavorings, the main course of which always remains his melodic guitar playing. His lead work in "Jazzenco" is particularly notable, but throughout the disc he plays with assurance in a manner his fans will recognize and appreciate. If it is difficult to crossover from jazz to pop, crossing back can be just as treacherous. Benson's oldest fans, who later became his detractors, still may not be satisfied with his current approach, but it has deservedly won him a secure place in contemporary jazz.

2. El Barrio

3. Jazzenco

4. Deeper Than You Think

B.B. King--Reflections

B.B. King unleashes his inner crooner on this collection of 13 of his sentimental favorites. With a five-piece studio band rather than his usual orchestra, the arrangements stay spare throughout, allowing King to exercise his classic vocal chops--although some fans may be disappointed by his low-key guitar playing, as King's beloved axe Lucille plays second fiddle to Texas guitarist Doyle Bramhall II's six-string. Still, King's in excellent voice, whether revisiting early inspiration Lonnie Johnson's romantic "Tomorrow Night," embracing buddy Willie Nelson's golden "Always on My Mind," or tackling numbers recorded by Sam Cooke and Nat "King" Cole ("(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons"), Louis Armstrong ("What a Wonderful World"), and Frank Sinatra ("I'll String Along with You"). Fans will recognize "On My Word of Honor" and the King original "Neighborhood Affair" from previous recordings and "I Want a Little Girl" from his live performances. Although King does justice to all these numbers, his most heartfelt selection may be "A Mother's Love," a performance that seems to draw on the heartache he still carries from the loss of his own mother when he was a child, nearly 70 years ago.

Tracklist:

1. Exactly Like You
2. On My Word Of Honor
3. I Want A Little Girl
4. I'll String Along With You
5. I Need You
6. A Mother's Love
7. (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons
8. Neighborhood Affair
9. Tomorrow Night
10. There I've Said It Again
11. Always On My Mind
12. Cross My Heart
13. What A Wonderful World

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble--In The Beginning

This visceral live recording from April 1, 1980, was broadcast on radio from the Steamboat 1874 club in Stevie Ray Vaughan's adopted hometown, Austin, Texas. It circulated among collectors, and his manager used some of the tape as a demo before Vaughan was signed to Epic Records by John Hammond. Young Stevie Ray's performance bristles with uncorked energy. Vaughan is caught improvising on raw slide guitar, growling through Otis Rush's "All Your Love (I Miss Loving)," and pushing his fretboard speed and vocal limits on Guitar Slim's "They Call Me Guitar Hurricane." Also offered are unpolished versions of tunes that became fan favorites: "Tin Pan Alley," "Love Struck Baby," and "Tell Me."

Tracklist:

1. In The Open
2. Slide Thing
3. They Call Me Guitar Hurricane
4. All Your Love I Miss Loving
5. Tin Pan Alley
6. Love Struck Baby
7. Tell Me
8. Shake For Me
9. Live Another Day

The Eagles--Hell Freezes Over

The long-defunct, Southern California band regrouped for an album, an expensive tour (expensive for ticket buyers, that is :-D), and this televised special, which features the Eagles in performance. Laid-back but sharp and even stirring during a longish acoustic set, the guys quickly get past the nostalgia element and sound truly viable. They even make it look easy: the sight of Joe Walsh wearing glasses and sitting in almost perfect repose as he effortlessly colors old hits "Tequila Sunrise" and new material such as "Learn to Be Still" may make you wonder why you ever stashed that guitar in the attic. This was the first time that "Hotel California" was performed on acoustic guitars and almost every band jams on that song. All in all, it's an enjoyable and mellowing show. Also includes interviews and bonus footage.

Songs: Hotel California, Tequila Sunrise, Help Me Through the Night, The Heart of the Matter, Love Will Keep Us Alive, Learn to be Still, Pretty Maids All in a Row, The Girl from Yesterday, Wasted Time, I Can't Tell You Why, New York Minute, The Last Resort, Take it Easy, Life in the Fast Lane, In the City, Get Over It, Desperado.
