Robben Ford--The Inside Story

Robben Ford originally put the band the Yellowjackets together to do his first solo album, called The Inside Story, on Elektra Records. That band, in that form, did the record, but keyboard player Russell Ferrante was the only guy who was free to go on the road with Ford, so Russ and Ford continued to work together. The group got back together again a little bit later on, and they started playing locally. Then Ford's manager suggested they shop a separate deal for the band. Ford was signed to Elektra, and had already done his album with the band, but the band wasn?t signed. Ford was already, at that point, starting to move towards more vocal-oriented music, and the band was a fusion band. Fusion rules The Inside Story, which only has two vocal tracks, in the traditional Robben Ford style. Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Blues/Fusion).

Michael Angelo Batio--Lucid Intervals & Moments of Clarity PART II

Lucid Intervals And Moments Of Clarity Part 2 is a new compilation of Michael Angelo Batio's third ("Tradition") and fourth ("Lucid Intervals and Moments of Clarity") solo CDs, remastered and repackaged onto one CD. This CD includes studio versions of Batio's classic instrumental songs "Prog" and "The Finish Line" plus great songs like "She Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and "Lucid Intervals And Moments Of Clarity". "China" kicks off the CD, and the main riff is in 6/4 time and very heavy -- almost like a Megadeth riff. Michael then states the main melody and away he goes. His fluid style sends notes gliding and flying all over the fretboard. His thick, round sound making the unbelievable passages seen easy and effortless. Michael starts "The Finish Line" with a be-bop jazz phrase and has a guitar choir back him up. Then the songs kicks in and it goes onto a boogie type progression. "Prog" starts with a very neoclassical intro and then turns into one of the "coolest" grooves and melodies that Michael has written with him playing in the Phrygian mode over "tribal" rhythms. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Shred/Hard Rock), total running time, 69:00
